Field of activities cover:

• Power systems modeling and analysis,
• Substation design,
• Technical support to the groups relates with the Power generation and electrical distribution in Amuay and Cardon Refineries,
• Failure and troubleshooting analysis in power and control systems,
• Technical support for Operations and Maintenance groups during Commissioning and Start-up on low and medium voltage electrical equipment, both power and control.

Main projects performed in this job have been the following:
 

• Basic design for upgrading of the medium voltage electrical power system at Amuay Refinery and interconnection with an external Independent Power Producer (IPP). This project included the following studies: Distribution load analysis, Short circuit, Load flow, Dynamic Stability, Motor reaceleration and Protective relaying Coordination. Also, the activities included the commissioning and project star-up.

• Project to replace the turbogenerator governors and excitation system in order to implement a Load Control Manager for Amuay Refinery.

• Basic design and specifications for the Electric load shedding scheme for the Paraguana Refining Complex.

• Study about arcing ground faults in low voltage motors and project to avoid erratic operations of the ground fault protection of the Amuay substations.

• Basic design for the new scheme of motor reaceleration and soft start in the Salt water pumping station #2 (Ten 2850 HP motors). Commissioning and start-up of the system.

• Short circuit and protective relaying coordination studies for different low and medium voltage project at Amuay and Cardón refineries.

• Several basic designs of substation and distribution systems because expansion projects in process plants. These include the Hidrodesulfuration upgrading project, FNC/TAME Project, Pipestill Plant 3 and 4 expansion, Synchronizing Busses 1 & 2 replacement, Substations for the Cooling water towers, Substations and distribution systems for the residential area of the Judibana city, etc.
